Location:
29401, 29403, 29407, 29412, 29414, 29455, 29492
General Information
It should go without saying that all vehicles should be secured all the time. However Motorcycles present challenges. They can sometimes be simply pushed or hoisted into a truck or van.

In May will be the motorcycle week in Myrtle Beach. Very often, in the weeks prior to these events, we notice incidents of motorcycle thefts, particularly Harley Davidson and similar makes. These are taken from apartments/condos as well as residential driveways, shopping center lots, etc.

We highly reccommend that you take extra precautions this season to protect your motorcycles from theft:
- Use the locking devices designed into the vehicle, and consider additional measures like the Motorcycle Club (from Winner International), and/or various locator devices like Lo-Jack.
- Store your motorcycle in a locked garage or block it in with other vehicles.
- Use available alarm systems and park in well-lit areas.
- If advertizing your bike for sale, be cautious and check out prospective buyers, do not have them come to your residence.
- If purchasing a motorcycle, consider a Car-Fax report to help insure against buying stolen merchandise or parts.

Lastly, if you see any suspicious activity, call police. This might include:
- Someone following you to work or home
- Someone looking at a motorcycle in teh parking area of your apartment complex
- Someone asking if the bike is for sale
- A panel-van or pickup riding slowly through a complex, business area, or neighborhood.
